     Rev. Thomas J Comerford was born at Hechsherville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.¹ He was ordained in 1882 at Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.² He was pastor between 1892 and 1924 at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.² Father Comerford was a brother of the late Michael E. Comerford, the motion picture theatre magnate, and was an uncle of Frank C. Walker who served as Postmaster General during the third term of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.²

In 1902, during the grat coal strike, Father Comerford openly and vigorously espoused the cause of the miners. He was an intimate friend of Joh Mitchell, a convert to Catholicism who was then President of the United Workers. It was Fahter Comerford who baptized Mr. Mitchell into the Catholic Church...Mr. Mitchell died on September 9, 191, at Mt. Vernon, New York, but the funeral was held from St. Peter's Cathedral in Scranton with Father Comerford as Deacon of the Mass.²³
