     James and bridgett, with three sons and one of their tow daughters, emigrated frist to Toronto, Canada, where James worked on the railroads. One of the boys, Anthony, died on the ship to America and was buried at sea.
Accordingto family History, Margaret Gallagher, their second daughter, remained in Ireland with her grandparents -- the Callahans. It was not uncommon fro a gamily to leave a child in Ireland to be sent for at a later time. Perhaps the child was not physically strong; perhaps the passage money was a factor; often the family hoped to appease the grandparents left in Ireland, by insuring that one of the gamily would survive if the family did not make it safely to America. Whatever the reason, Margaret remained in Ireland until she was fifteen, about 1854, when her brother, John, sent her passage money to Toronto. Shortly after she arrived, James moved the family to Des Moines, Iowa.
He married Bridgett Callahan.² James was born in 1796, at Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. He was the son of Thomas Gallagher and Ann Jordan. James died on 17 January 1870 at age at an unknown age .

Did not marry. He died in Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, the results of an infected wound which happened on his farm. He is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Irish Settlement, near Churchville, Iowa. A wonderful man, he was born in Jefferson Twp, Warren Co, Iowa.

Thomas was born on 22 November 1891, at Jefferson Township, Warren County, Iowa. He was the son of John C. Mulroy and Mary A. Ryan Johnson. Thomas died on 10 July 1928 at Des Moines, Iowa 50300, at age 36.

     
She had lived with her son Richard in California. In 1975, however, she was living with her daughter, Betty, Palos Heights, Illinois. Catherine had cataract surgery in October, 1975, recovery was good.
Catherine was born in February 1895, at Jefferson Township, Warren County, Iowa. She was the daughter of John C. Mulroy and Mary A. Ryan Johnson. She married Louis P. Hallstein on 7 February 1931.² Catherine died circa 1980 at age at an unknown age .

     Louis was born on 17 April 1898. He married Catherine Melroy on 7 February 1931.¹ Louis died on 21 July 1956 at age 58.

After his wife died and Madonna was married, Francis became a religious. On 3 July, 1963, he entered the Brothers of the Good Sheperd at Albuquerque, New Mexico. He took the name of Brother Aidan Melroy, BGS. He received the habit on 25 August 1963, and was professed as a brother on 29 June 1965. On 21 November 1968, he made his perpetual profession.
Francis was born on 25 April 1897, at Jefferson Township, Warren County, Iowa. He was the son of John C. Mulroy and Mary A. Ryan Johnson. He married Clare Mulhern on 10 October 1923 at Churchville, Iowa 50211.^3,4 Francis died on 4 July 1984 at Albuquerque, Warren County, New Mexico 87100, at age 87.⁵
