     She attended three years of high school in Paola, Kansas, near her mother's older sister, Mary Ann Monaghan Nolan. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy, Des Moines, attended college in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught in several Madison County country schools. When first married they lived in George's home at Waverly, Iowa. They moved to Greene , Iowa, in 1939, and to San Antonio, Texas in 1942. Their first four children died in infancy. An adopted son, Joseph James Anderson, and two daughters, Jane Anderson McAuliffe and Mary Anges Anderson Kutac survived to adulthood. After the death of her husband, Agnees worked as a law librarian at St. Mary's University School of Law and at the Bexar County Law Library, Wilford Hall hospital, Lackland Air Force Base. She died from cancer and is buried with her husband and four infant children at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Waverly, Iowa.

     After the death of his mother, he worked as a road maintainer in Scott County, Iowa, until his retirement. He returned to Winterset and lived on a small acreage until his death form cancer in 1983. In his will he left his property and inheritance to his fifty-five great-nieces and great-nephews. While his formal education ended in the seventh grade, he valued learing and it was his wish that each bequest be used for the education of his young relatives.
He donataed his body to medical research at Creighton University School of Medicine and his ahses were later buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

He returned to Winterset in the early 1950's, where he cared for his aunt, Virginia Monaghan, and her farm. After his retirement he lived in Winterset and enjoyed the companionship of his brothers and their families.

     In Davenport, he worked as maintenance engineer at St. Vincent Home, as custodian at Sacred heart Cathedral, as a policeman for twenty-two years, and as bailiff at the Scott County Courthouse. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and various police organizations. At the time of his deaht in 1990, he ahd twenty-five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
