His body was interred, at Killala, County Mayo, Ireland.
"The Mulroy family came from Killala, County Mayo, Ireland. According to family traditon, he was an only child. A grandson, Brother Aidan Melroy, remembers his father talking about a grist mill with a stone floor that Manus operated near a lake. This was not far from Croagh Patrick. The couple had ten [eleven] children before Cathierine died following the birth of her daughter Margaret. Her husband, Manus, died two days later." ( The Melroy Family )
Courtnee Mulroy, during further research added the following informaiton:
I wanted to further update more information that was found on Manus
Mulroy. I believe him to be either a brother or a cousin at least to my
third grandfather Henry Mulroy. I think I mentioned before about my
cousin over in Westport, Ireland that is helping me research information
over there in Ireland. He was able to get in contact with a man that is
very well educated on the history of Islandeady Parish, Glenisland area
right by Wesport there.
The first information we found was an actual church record in Islandeady
Parish, in the village of Kilgarrif that my cousin was able to read
first hand, the birth of the last daughter of Manus and Catherine
Riordan. Margaret Mulroy in 1842. This places them in a village next to
my Mulroys and not in Kilalla. My Mulroys were from Barnastang.
Furthermore, the paragraph on your site also provided so much information.

Croagh Patrick is right by Westport, 5mi from it and right by these
villages I speak of. As well there was indeed a mill next to the lake
Beltra (Beltra Lough) near where Manus lived that mill was Bunahowna and
it is located on some of the old maps of the area. A house sits where
that Mill was and the actual wheel from that mill is now placed into the
fence at that house. I am attaching images of all this and some maps.
The map will also show the Mulroys that I am speaking about in various
villages around that area.
Further more, I am also attaching other images of a book that was put
together by a man that read through handwritten records brought over to
America about the evictions of Glenisland area and it was heartbreaking
to read Manus Mulroys outright murder in these documents. He was removed
from his home (evicted) while on his death bed and died once taken outside.
I bring this up, because it is important to us to not forget the pain
Manus went through nor for his true story to be forgotten. I hope with
these things you are open minded about the errors that we have found.
Kilalla is indeed a very important village to the Mulroy family, as we
have found information that the Mulroys did battle there with English to
preserve their faith and history. Mulroys started up in Donegal County
and were pushed South into Mayo and even Louth counties when the English
rule took over in 1601. They fought to keep the last true Gaelic area of
Ireland. The Mulroys in Mayo County still did not stop and were involved
in the battles in Kilalla.3
Manus was born on 16 January 1801, at Killala, County Mayo, Ireland. He married Catherine Riordan on 8 June 1823 at Killala, County Mayo, Ireland.1,4,2 Manus died on 6 May 1842 at Kilgarriff Parish, Islandeady, County Mayo, Ireland, at age 41.
Courtee Mulroy sent the following article. Mr. McManamon, after completion of his Master's thesis of the Great Irish Famine in County Mayo, found County Mayo Land League records in the New York Public library. They are 68 handwritten pages of witness statements pertaining to evictions, cases of rack-renting and other landlord abuses. They were copied down by local parish priests. He writes:
"It is heart wrenching to read how tenets without a written lease were at the mercy of the landlords and their agents. It records fines for not whitewashing one's house, notices to evict for having a relative stay at one's house and rents' being considerably higher than their valuation. The Land League records claim that people were even fined for not getting a landlord's permission to marry."
Pat Salmon of Kilgarriff Parish of Islandeady and County of Mayo am tenant on Sir Roger Palmer's property. Witnessed saw twenty-one houses in said village. Saw seventeen of these pulled down and levelled. Also saw the men employed in levelling these houses take out a man named Manus Mulroy from his death bed carry him into the open air where he died immediately after."5.5

Sent for from Ireland by his brother, Mark. He traveled with his sisters to Carbondale, PA where, he work in the coal mines. Later with his brother, John, and sister, Katherine, he went before 1857, to Madison, County, Iowa.
Thomas bought a farm near St. Patrick's Church, Irish Settlement, in Madison, Iowa. When his brother, John, married, he sold him that farm, and later bought another farm in Madison County.
According to his daughter, Nora, Thomas and his brother, John, always signed their name "Mulroy." It is with their children that the spelling of the name commonly became "Melroy."
St. Patrick's Church in the Irish Settlement of Madison County, near where Thomas bought farm, figures repeatedly in the history of the Melroy family. The church has been the scene of many baptims, marriages, and funerals of members of these families.
The story is told of the controversy about 1855, among the Irish families in the area concerning the location of the future parish; north or south of the North River. Upon the death of a stranger while at the home of a settler on the south side of the river, it was necessary to decide upon the location of the cemetery, so the man could be buried. While the settler was determining a site in his neighborhood, some people form the north side took the body and buried it on the north side. It followed that the parish should be headquartered near the cemetery, hence the location of St. Patrick's, on the north side of the North River, Lee Township, Madison County, Iowa.
St. Patrick's figured prominently in the news in 1979, when Pope John Paul II chose the church for a Papel visit while in the United States.
On May 11, 1857, at St. Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moinse, Iowa, Thomas married Margaret Gallagher, the fourth of six children of Hames and Bridgett Callahan. Thomas and Margaret, had fifteen Children, eleven sons, and four daughters. (Melroy Family).
