His name was surname was Kenart. Came from Irland, settled in Archbald, PA. (Around 18). Broadlands, County Mayo was his family home. It existed thre until the 1970's. He probably came to America in the 1880's. He became a citizen on October 6, 1893, apparently a a day of great celebration for him. He worked as a barber for a few years but for the most part worked in the coal mines. He took great pride in the fact that he could read and write and, according to his son John, would sit on his porck reading aloud in order to impress his neighbors.
When John Wright was about twelve years old (a sixth grader) James had a barber shop on Salem Street and he and his family rented the shop and house. They owned a house at 195 Chestnut Street which they rented out. The house on Chestnut Street burned down and there was no fire insurance as the man who sold the insurance ahd failed to forward the premium th the company. John and Laura had to quit school and go to work in order to help the family. John would get tears in his eyes when he described how hard a life his mother had then.2 James was born in January 1865, at Broadlands, County Mayo at Ireland.2,3 He married Bridget Malarkey in 1890 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.3 He petitioned the court to become a citizen on 6 October 1893.2 James died on 20 December 1932 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania 18403, at age 67. His body was interred in 1932, at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania 18403.
