"John Casey married Anna Joyce in Carbondale in 1890, they were the parents of six children, Edward, Leonard, Joseph, Gerald, Anna, Clara.
John Casey died when Edward was 12 years old and two years later Anna Casey died, the cause of death was listed as over work.
The six children were taken care of by Aunt Margaret Joyce and Aunt Katie Joyce, both women gave up their careers to raise this big family. Aunt Katie was going to be a nun but on the advice of her pastor, she decided to stay home and take care of the children. Aunt Margaret was the principle in Carbondale Township school and was going to be married to George Cuff but she also decided to stay teaching and support the family. On could not be married in those days and stay working as a teacher. Both Aunt Katie and Aunt Margaret lived to 95 years and helped whenever they could taking care of grand nieces and nephews. Their sister Nellie Joyce married Paul Casey, she lived near and also helped with the children, also Aunt Sarah McCann.
Edward Casey married Lauretta A. Wright on Wednesday, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald, Nov. 26, 1919, on Thanksgiving Eve. They resided in Oneonta, New York, John Donald and Loretta were born in 1920 and 1922, Edward lost his job in Oneonta, they moved into Laura's Dad's home on Chestnut, Street where Edward Jr and Kenneth were born, also the triplets who died shortly after birth. The family then moved to cherry street address, and then to Pine Street and last to 401 Church Street where they operated a family grocery business and Edward was an employee of D&H railroad, until he retired.
Edward died Dec 10, 1959 in Temple Hospital, Philadelphia, Lauretta died on January 3, 1982 at home, Archbald, PA.
Leonard married "Diel," they resided in Syracuse, and were the parents of two sons, John and Thomas.
Joseph married Mary Malia in Archbald. They resided in Childs, PA and were the parents of eight children, Paul, Joseph, Rosemary, Jean, Julie, Anne, Catherine and Aloysius. Joseph died when he was 40 years old.

One of the younger citizens of the south side, John J. Casey, aged thirty-five years was claimed by the grim reaper at eight o'clock this morning after an illness of a month's duration. Death was due to pulmonary trouble, from which deceased had been suffering for some time past, although his ailment had not been considered of a serious nature until of late.
Deceased was born in this city and had always lived here. He had taken an active interest in local affairs and was a prominent member of Carbondale Conclave of Heptasophs. In his family circle he found his greatest pleasure, however, and he was a man who made a friend of everyone with whom he had any dealings.
A wife and five children survive; also three sisters and four brothers. The sisters are Miss Margaret Casey. Mrs. Joseph Walker and Mrs. Bernard Crane. The brothers are, Edward and Martin of this city; James of Olyphant, and Thomas of Hyde Park.
The funeral announcement will be made in tomorrow's paper."7

The funeral of the late John J. Casey was held yesterday morning, a large concourse of friends assembling to pay a final mark of esteem to the deceased. Rev. George Dixon officiated at a mass of requiem said at St. Rose church and afterwards delivered a funeral sermon, choosing for his text the following: "For the Son of Man has taken his soul out of iniquity." His eulogy of the life of the departed was an eloquent one. The remains were interred in St. Rose cemetery.12".11

Carbondale Girl Weds Archbald Resident in St. Rose of Lima Churchh
Mr. and Mrs. John P. Jones, 36 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Marcella Rita Jones, to Edward Joseph Casey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Casey, 401 Church St., Archbald, in a ceremony Aug. 4 in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. The Rev. Vincent Kilpatrick, Binghamton, N.Y., cousin of the bridegroom, officiated.
Mrs. Frank Casey was organist, and John Walsh, uncle of the bridegroom, vocalist. White gladioli decorated the altar with bows at the pews.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white nylon marquisette gown over satin with nylon yoke, fitted bodice, buttoned to the waist, long tapering sleeves and full skirt featuring double peplum of marquisette and lace and ending in a court train. Her double tiered fingertip veil of illusion fell form a crown of seed pearls. She carried white roses with an orchid center and crystal rosaries, a gift of the bridegroom.
Mrs. Thomas O'neill, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. She woer a Nile green marquisette and lace gown with matching lace and floral band in her hair. She carried American Beauty roses and wore a rhinestone necklace, gift of the bride.
Shirely Ann Jones, sister of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a powder blue satin and lace gown with hoop skirt caught with lace and bows. She wore a coronet of pink roses and baby breath in her hair and carried a swing bouquet of pink roses and baby breath with blue satin streamers.
Robert Jones, brother of the bride, was best man. John A. Wright ushered.
Dinner was served at the home of the bride with a reception at Casey's Hall, Jermyn.
The bride is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and is employed by Simpson Dress Co. The bridegroom, a graduate of St. Patrick's high School, Olyphant, and the University of Scranton, is engaged in the restaurant business in Jermyn.
When the couple left for a wedding trip to Buffalo, N.Y., and Niagara Falls, the bride wore a navy blue suit with red and white accessories and an orchid corsage. They will reside at the rear of 401 Church Sr., Archbald.

She wore a small bridal hat featuring a pearled Venise appliqued crown side, apple blossoms and a samll brim accented with a pouf and double illusion veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white silk roses and stephanotis highlighted with light blue star flowers and camellia foliage.

Rev. Eugene R. Carr, assisted by Edward Casey Jr., brother of the groom, performed the ceremony before an altar adorned with arrangements of white gladiola and shades of blue combined through carnatins in matching pari of altar vases.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white original organza formal gown featuring a Queen Anne neckline, slim straight sleeves and a molded bodice embellished with pearls and Venise lace. The dropped waist was designed above a full skrit, cathedral train edged in lace and appliqued. She wore a small bridal hat featuring a pearled Venise appliqued crown side, apple blossoms and a samll brim accented with a pouf and double illusion veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white silk roses and stephanotis highlighted with light blue star flowers and camellia foliage.
Brenda Reeves, Mayfield, was maid of honor. She wore a formal gown of royal blue moire taffeta with light blue moire trim featuring a wrap bodice with bow and streamers at the side waist, short bow knot sleeves and softly gathered skirt. She also wore a royal blue derby accented by rows of pearls at the crown and a pearl dotted pouf and streamers of French illusion. She carried a loose airy cascade of predominately shades of blue highlighted with baby breath and stephanotis.

Her matching headpiece was a floral wreath of silk roses and pearl-edged leaves accented with pearl tendrils supporting a double tier fingertip veil and she carried a bouquet of white roses, carnations and baby's breath.
